things about jury system
Hello again, again,
Air Asia’s “Now Everyone Can Fly”
Yeah la if we got enough money la
I want you to remember this sentence.
I have enough time to read newspaper from first page to the end of sport section. Not only StarTwo comic section.
Anyway, I saw one article about Japan starts Judicial system that enables ordinary citizens to try judge criminal cases!! It’s a HISTORICAL change you know. Japanese accepted the change, it’s almost miracle.
So finally Japan joined the ranks of many other countries we shall call this as globalization? It’s very first time that Japan to have super normal ordinary citizens to serve as judges in serious criminal cases, which Japan hopes for reforming of Japanese justice system.
Well again “reforming” My favorite word “REFORM”.
Why Japan needs reforming of justice system?
Well, Justice Minster Eisuke Mori says: “Serious criminal cases in hopes of reforming a justice system criticized for being too abstruse and out of touch with popular sentiment”
The system was proposed back in 2001 by government judicial reform sector, well done nine years later today, Japanese citizens has right to judge and support for the new system by using SOCIAL COMMON SENSE OF THE PUBLIC.
But yeah Japanese, what do we expect? We are super ethnocentric people, we are the best, anything comes from overseas are nothing better than us. LOL.
So while government has been promoting the lay jury system ever since passed into the law officially, many Japanese appear UNCOMFORTABLE with the idea of handing down the system.
And another cool thing is some smart lawmakers are planning to submit a statement to STOP the system being implemented, arguing that it could be unconstitutional.
Yeah right since end of WWII, Japan never change any laws, of cause 64 years of comfy-ness is not so easy to change. And like my finance lecturer Mr.T, he doesn’t like to judge things or his principle is not to judge anyone, and he believes no one can judge him.
Oh well, his principles might affect the system? I believe NO. Because this is different story. We are licensed if you are selected one of them, and chance to judge. Huh, the system would deny your “constitutionally guaranteed” freedom of thought and belief? Apa la lu, don’t be a hero, we always judge in front of TV whenever we watching news, we always do. We love to judge people.
Another thing is, if you wanna runaway from this wonderful opportunity, official judge will punish you with up to six months in jail or YEN 500,000 (RM 18,500) fines!! Woo Hoo!!
We already decided to adopt this system, Japanese should be more confident about themselves! We are not that stupid, mostly so-so educated, some are very well educated.
Yeah our irresponsible attitude should deserve this!! SERIOUSLY.

“Now Everyone Can Judge (Not in front of TV)”
Yeah la if we selected one of them la
