Feist: The Reminder

2007 is going to be such a great year for music =) yay!
One of my favorite Canadian singer-songwriter Feist finally released wonderful piece of music it’s called “The Reminder” =)

When I first picked up Feist’s album, “Open Season” I thought it was perfectly pleasant background music. Her ’70s infused songs, perfect for a dinner time, or for playing faintly while I flipped through a magazine. The catchy “Mushaboom” really made happy and wedging itself in my head for days on end =)

With her new album, The Reminder, she has delivered a set of songs that owe more to “Mushaboom” and that wonderful thing. Feist shines on the up tempo songs on The Reminder, doesn’t lose my interest on the ballads.

Sure, it’s only May, but I’m already set “I Feel It All” as my summer anthem, with rhythmically repetitive lyrics (“I love you more/I love you more/I don’t know what I knew before”). The swingy rhythm of “My Moon My Man” showcases a chorus slightly reminds of ’70s soul, and “Sealion” makes up for a somewhat cheesy guitar solo with gospel-style clapping. Somehow, all of those elements come together perfectly on “1 2 3 4” the album’s final up tempo track. Percussion plays a larger role on these danceable songs than it has in Feist’s previous work, but it never overshadows her voice, which is crystal-clear and outstanding voice as always =)

Not sure how many people have heard of Feist before, but the number is about to increase considerably. I LOVE this album.

la la la wonderful CD of the day:
